Mark Bray is part of a new art show at Aili Ice Designs. Mark will be joined by his friend Luis Marroquin with his unique carved masks and skateboards.
The paintings for this show were taken from the “Other Worlds Than These” and “Cosmic Rainbow” series of paintings. These works focus on a more free flowing expressionistic feel. Layers of colors and patters are outlined with huge calligraphic brush strokes.
Both of these series of paintings were created as complete sets then broken into their separate pieces. It is a really nice way to work and gives each painting a different look but a sense of consistency with the rest of the work.
Mark Bray uses many different technique with his acrylic paintings. He uses layers of colors brushes on along with misting, dripping, splashing, stencils and stamps. Reminiscent of processes used by Jackson Pollack but taken to a different and new level Mark incorporates block printing and calligraphic hand styles over along with the free form splattering and dripping.
The show will be up until May 15, 2017
There will be a reception on March 30, 2017.
